CADRe (Consent & Disclosure Recommendations)

The CADRe Working Group aims to explore the ethical, legal, and social (ELSI) issues relating to reporting the actionability of particular genes/variants in the clinical care process.

  1. Evaluate curated genes and variants for potential ELSI-related contextual issues regarding their clinical implementation.
  2. Seek the advice of ethicists, education experts, patient advocates, medical geneticists, laboratory directors and genetic counselors to develop an evaluation rubric.
  3. Make recommendations for genes and variants with special implications for pre-test and post-test education and counseling.
  4. Employ surveys to assess the responses of stakeholders to the proposed processes for gene and variant pre- and post-test counseling
